Surgery Mastery Program
Empowering you to optimize your whole-body wellness before surgery to ensure a successful and accelerated recovery.
When I was a child, inspired by 'National Velvet,' I dreamed of being a professional equestrian and a doctor. Although I faced financial and acceptance hurdles in pursuing medicine, my passion for health and wellness never wavered.
This led me to a fulfilling career as a research scientist, with a side job of dance and personal fitness training. In 2019, driven by a desire to continually challenge myself, I discovered Chris Kresser's ADAPT Functional Health Coach certification program.
With my background in sciences, fitness, and nutrition, I found that deep diving into the psychology of coaching was a missing tool in my health toolbox. My own health challenges, including pre-diabetes, early-stage kidney disease, and unresolved infertility, have taught me the importance of a holistic approach to health.

It’s Day 17 post surgery and I am still swollen and sore in my muscles (from my right foot all the way to the base of my glute) but it is getting better each day. I was at 0/110 at my in-person PT appointment on Day 14.
Saw my ortho doctor on Day 15, when they removed the bandage. He commented that he wished every patient would make surgery as easy for him as I did. I was also pleased that he used glue and not staples!!! My scar is about 1 inch longer at the base due to my previous ACL repair, but honestly, I’m not bothered by it. Remember, that injury was the eventual reason I developed severe osteoarthritis and had to get a RTKR at the age of 54.
This has been the hardest physical “fight” I have had in my entire life. I will say that the three months of your Fit For Surgery Program prior to my surgery was an absolute game changer. My quad fired immediately in the recovery room when I raised my leg, and it’s not failed me once since. The nurses were amazed!
I do my at-home PT every day, twice a day. I make sure I do both legs, so my left leg doesn’t get under-developed. I have been walking without any canes or walkers during the day, since day 10. I really feel that getting my nutrition dialed in before surgery has a lot to do with me feeling strong and capable pretty much right out of the recovery room.
I only use the walker at night when I wake up about every 2 hours from the pain and discomfort and I have to move and walk around my house to release the stiffness, to be able to go back to sleep. Sometimes I remember to use those breathing exercises, but often I forget. The walker helps make sure I don’t topple over from sleep deprivation- I’m sure I look like a zombie during my late-night walking!
Based on my ability to walk so well on my own, the doctor authorized me to drive as I feel comfortable. That means at week 2, I can walk and drive on my own! That alone is a major victory! Most people have to wait 4-6 weeks to drive. I am also back to work (remotely) at about 40% capacity for now. I’m so thankful I have a job that affords me this privilege - it helps me financially as well as mentally to stay involved in a job that I love.
To all potential clients of the Fit For Surgery program, I share all this not to brag but to give you hope. I’ve heard some stories of others who have truly struggled far worse than me and I absolutely don’t want to minimize their reality and struggles. However, there are also recoveries that are not as bad. The reality is, I didn’t do the entire program letter perfect, but I took in all the education Viviane provided and did the parts I felt were meaningful for me. So, I share this testimonial with that in mind. For anyone reading this pre-surgery - do yourself the biggest solid and start with Viviane NOW. Do not wait!!

A personal health coach was something that looked like a good idea in theory, however the cost held me back from pursuing what seemed to be a luxury service. I had already been diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome and my doctor would nag me at every visit to lose some weight. But with every visit my health was declining further and the number of medications I had to take was increasing.

My doctor told me I’d have to go on insulin to control my type 2 diabetes. I watched my own mother need more and more insulin and she still lost her foot to amputation. That memory, the cost of insulin and my fear of amputation was my wake-up call.
My biggest problem was that I felt so alone trying to get healthier. I knew what I had to do – I just couldn’t get a consistent routine going. I booked a consultation with Viviane and in that hour, I felt heard and not judged. I also felt hopeful for the first time in a long time. I signed up for a six-month coaching package that met every week.
I set ridiculously easy goals (add 1/2 serving of vegetable/day) and each tiny win boosted my self-confidence. I also decided what a serving looked like to me - Viviane didn’t tell me or even push me to do what is recommended. At first it started small, but then grew larger just naturally. As I was ready, I added more health promoting behaviors, not worrying about the scale number at all.
When I slipped up, Viviane helped me to understand that another value I held took priority over my health value. We dug into it deeper to see if I wanted to keep that value or not. It was mind blowing to realize that the temporary ( and I mean temporary) pleasure of a donut binge was more important than keeping my feet!
At the 6 month mark I had dropped 41 pounds. I signed up for another package because I wanted to shock my doctor at my next scheduled visit. And with Viviane in my corner weekly, I was doing more healthy things consistently. She helped me pay attention to the usual components of health: diet, movement, sleep, and stress. She went out of her way to share evidence-based articles, wearable gadgets, and free tips/practices with me that I would never have access to. She is also my greatest health proponent.
Currently I am down 76 lbs. and My A1c is just about in the normal range, and I’ve reduced many of my medicines. I am no longer on the edge of needing insulin. My doctor was amazed at my transformation. Coaching was such a positive experience for me that I now tell everyone having a health coach is not a luxury but a critical piece to living a healthy, independent, and satisfying life.
